Self-Advocate Advisors
The board highly values the authentic voices of adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) to inform and guide it on what these adults need and want for safe, supportive, affordable housing, and what they want for learning and enrichment opportunities. OASIS Community has established this Self-Advocate Advisors for that purpose.
Hannah Carpenter, Self-Advocate Advisor
Hannah is a very social person and she particularly likes being around girls her age. She enjoys spending time at Shine On University where she can hang out with friends and go on community outings.
Michael Eyman, Self-Advocate Advisor
Michael is someone who loves to laugh and interact with people in a lighthearted way. People who show an interest in his interests bring him joy.
Jennifer Hoover, Self-Advocate Advisor
Jennifer is a self-advocate who has grown up in West Lafayette and has a lot of knowledge about the greater Lafayette community. She has had a long working career including almost 20 years at Target.
Ian Humphrey, Self-Advocate Advisor
Ian is originally from Jamaica and joined the Humphrey family in 2009. He loves life and has a contagious smile.
Samuel Trinkle, Self-Advocate Advisor
Samuel loves people and being able to participate in community activities including walking around his neighborhood, taking hikes, bowling, playing baseball, and grocery shopping.
Christopher Van Tuinen, Self-Advocate Advisor
Christopher is a young man with much enthusiasm for life. He enjoys shopping, going to the library, going out to eat, cooking with friends, and all the sodas he can get his hands on.
